Kentec panels protect Kuwait's new mobile network
Kentec’s Sigma XT+ extinguishant control panels have been chosen to control the fire detection systems installed in GSM network base stations across Kuwait’s third mobile telephone network, many of which are situated in remote areas in one of the hottest parts of the Persian Gulf.
Over 700 of the base stations within the new VIVA mobile network, operated by STC (Saudi Telecom), are protected by Kentec control panels, supplied and supported by local distributor ACC (Arabian Construction Company).
In addition to Kentec’s Sigma XT+ extinguishant control panels, the fire detection system in each base station comprises an FM 200 extinguishant gas release system with Hochiki detectors, sounders and auxiliary devices, cross-zoned and cross-referenced between detectors in the protected areas. In the event of a fire, gas release and cylinder status is automatically signalled to the Operational Control Centre (OMC).
Whilst these remote unmanned sites are air-conditioned and powered by generators with battery backup, extreme temperatures make these locations testing environments. The Sigma XT extinguishing modules set a new benchmark for extinguishing control panels, with each module controlled by its own powerful microcontroller bringing unparalleled flexibility, intelligence and versatility for trouble-free remote extinguishing systems.
Kentec Electronics Ltd, Europe’s leading independent manufacturer of fire detection and alarm control panels, offer the most comprehensive range of conventional, analogue addressable fire detection and extinguishant control panels. Kentec products are independently tested and approved to EN54 parts 2 & 4 and EN12094 part 1. Kentec systems support three of the most widely used fire data communication protocols from the world’s leading fire detector manufacturers.
