Kentec protects Samsung's new LCD Slovakian plant

Kentec Syncro fire control panels have been specified for a fire detection system installed by Pro Metheus Slovakia Ltd at Samsung's massive new LCD panel manufacturing complex at Voderady in the Trnava region of Slovakia.

The installation comprises of two independently networked fire detection systems. At the main LCD factory and utility buildings, 4 Kentec Syncro Control Panels are networked via fibre optic cable to devices in clean room and assembly line areas to high sensitivity laser based air sampling, optical smoke and multi sensor detectors.

At the assembly parts manufacturing building, that includes high fire risk areas, a 12 kilometer long fibre optic network links to 7 Kentec Syncro Panels and a Kentec Syncro View Repeater that is integrated to fire doors and shutters, voice evacuation systems, smoke exhaust systems, sprinkler systems, etc. In both areas Hochiki optical smoke and multi sensor detectors have been installed, supported by Hochiki's ESP protocol.

Pro Metheus, in partnership with Kentec, was selected by Samsung for their long-term experience of similar prestigious large projects, and the benefits of an open protocol system to ensure optimum detection whilst minimising the potential for unwanted alarms.
