A Kentec fire alarm control panel has played a central role in a wireless fire alarm system specially installed for Cirque du Soleil’s Quidam performances in Munich, Germany.
The fire alarm system, believed to be the first of its kind in Germany, was installed to protect the tunnel between the main Circus Big-Top, and the artist dressing/holding tent during a series of performances.
Wireless fire alarms specialist Fire Systems Ltd had just three days to complete the installation prior to the fire inspection by the Munich fire authorities. The system, based around a single loop Kentec Syncro AS analogue addressable fire alarm control panel, used Argus open communications protocol with Hyfire devices including one translator and two expanders, controlling twenty two wireless sounder strobes and wireless manual call points. The fire alarm was also connected to a Scope pager system, designed to alert staff should a fire activate the alarm.
Cirque du Soleil, self-described as a "dramatic mix of circus arts and street entertainment", is the largest theatrical producer in the world having brought its unique theatre to more than 100 million people in over 40 countries. Its latest touring show, Quidam, is described as a thrilling combination of acrobatic artistry, technical expertise, extravagant design and exceptional musical inspiration.
