The owners of a large multi-occupancy office building near Oxford Street in London were aware that they needed to upgrade their fire protection with a new detection system, but were concerned about the potential installed cost and disruption to tenants on the various floors.
Although old conventional systems were installed in the stairwells and main circulation areas of the building, no protection was fitted within any of the tenanted floors, and where continuous business operations meant access was severely limited.
Advance Peripheral Systems (APS), a BAFE approved systems company based in Worcester, were able to put forward a perfect solution for the client to both minimise disruption and make use of existing wiring. APS are a Fire Detection Products Ltd (FDP) Engineered Systems Partner and as such were able to offer a combination of wired Aurora InterActive (marketed in Europe as Argus Vega) and wireless Aurora WyrFree (or Argus Sagittarius) devices in a fully integrated intelligent addressable package monitored by a Kentec Electronics Ltd Syncro Analogue Addressable Control Panel. Approved to BS EN54 parts 2 & 4, this particular panel is a 2 Loop, 16 Zone LED complete with Printer and Enable Control Key.
Andy Fox, APS's Managing Director commented; "FDP were able to provide us with a product package that offered our client the flexibility demanded. The fully integrated mix of wired and wireless devices allowed re-use of most cabling with negligible site disruption, since engineers only needed minimal access to fit new wireless detectors and call points within the tenanted floors. The client was pleased to have a new, latest technology, open protocol system up and running in a matter of days, rather than the weeks required for a fully wired solution."
In UK and Ireland, Argus Security devices are available via a network of FDP's Engineered Systems Partners.
