Syncro V4.3 Release

There is a new version of panel firmware available for the original "pre-EN" Syncro control panels.

This new firmware is only suitable for panels currently installed with firmware versions up to V4.2. It is not suitable for the BSI Kitemarked panels and must not be installed on these panels, as this would invalidate their approval status.

Version 4.3 provides a faster response to Apollo Series 90 Manual Call Point activations compared with earlier versions of Syncro firmware. In addition, it also resolves a number of technical issues reported with earlier versions.

ENS400 Thermistor Connection

Syncro control panels are now supplied with the BSI Approved ENS400 power supply unit. This power supply is also available as a stand alone unit and as a boxed power supply unit.
The ENS400 power supply is easily identified by the presence of a thermistor on a flying lead adjacent to the ribbon connector plug.
To provide maximum performance from the standby batteries, the ENS400 automatically adjusts the charge voltage to the optimum value based on the temperature of the batteries.
To ensure accurate monitoring of the battery temperature, the thermistor should be taped to the side of one of the batteries using Scotch 27 Glass Cloth Electrical tape or equivalent.

Loop Calculators

Kentec Syncro and Solo fire detection systems use digital signaling techniques to communicate with the Apollo and Hochiki detection devices and loop modules.
Digital signalling allows data error checking and the rejection of any invalid messages. These are typically the result of excessive loop resistance or loop current loading.

In order to verify the design of a particular system before the installation commences, both Apollo and Hochiki provide Loop Calculator software applications. These applications define the maximum loop cable length based upon the cable parameters and devices fitted. They also confirm that the loop alarm current does not exceed the panel capacity.

The applications may be downloaded from the appropriate detector manufacturers web sites, using the following links.
