Matrix Mimic– New Zone Plan Rule

The introduction of BS5839-1:2013 has introduced new recommendations to Fire Alarm System Zone Plans and Mimic Diagrams.

BS5839-1:2013 states that it is important to ensure that a suitable zone plan is provided next to the fire alarm control panel (including repeater panels), unless the control panel equipment includes a suitable display, i.e. an illuminated mimic panel.

The reason for this introduction is that it has been determined that in at least one multiple fatality fire, some or all the deaths could have been avoided if a diagrammatic representation of the premises had been provided in close proximity to the fire alarm system control panel.

Kentec’s Syncro Matrix and Sigma Matrix do just the job.

The Syncro Matrix is an innovative fire alarm mimic system which can be connected to any panel in our analogue Syncro and Syncro AS fire alarm panel range. The Sigma Matrix is the conventional alternative. The Sigma Matrix can be connected to any system providing volt free contacts or a switched 24V DC supply.

Both the Syncro and Sigma Matrix use flexible, fibre optic light guides to illuminate areas on a floor plan laid over a high resolution grid. This allows you to show all areas of the building making it easy to find out where the fire is occurring.

As businesses adapt and evolve, so do the buildings we work in. The Syncro and Sigma Matrix panels can be modified to make note of these changes, and with their practical construction, these alterations are both easily made and cost effective, requiring minimal time and programming.

Green Kentec

Kentec are proud to have recycled 90% of our main waste in 2014. Through the separation of plastics and cardboard we have diverted tonnes of our waste materials away from landfill. We have a number of designated recycling points throughout our offices and manufacturing areas, recycling a variety of items from discarded paper and empty drinks cans, to printed circuit board WEEE waste. We are looking forward to continuing these efforts in 2015, and doing our bit to help preserve the earth for future generations.
