Edition 76 April 2013

Continuing Investment is what we're all about

We have recently upgraded our Surface Mount Line with a Speedprint SP210avi Screen Printer. Kentec has always been a Speedprint user since our introduction into Surface Mount Technology many years ago. Recognising how critical the pasting operation is to the quality and reliability of the final product, a new and improved version of the SP210avi printer has been installed.

This innovative vision system also facilitates a unique 'paste on stencil' inspection feature, ensuring that there is adequate paste on the stencil before running the print cycle. Automatic rail width adjustment is standard to aid quick changeovers in our high mix manufacturing environment.

The printer was purchased with 2D paste inspection and laser tooling to ensure that the correct amount of solder paste is applied on the PCB exactly where required.

Furthermore with the changeover to lead free manufacturing completed in 2012, it was planned to upgrade the reflow process at the earliest opportunity with a larger capacity reflow oven more suitable to Kentec’s Production process and throughput requirements.

The TMS Reflow Machine has 8 heating zones top and bottom along with 2 cooling zones, the multi heating zones are all independently controlled and can be easily changed to suit the type of PCB being processed.

The TSM is due to be installed and commissioned in the next few weeks and will complement the recently supplied screen printer to ensure that Kentec’s production line is running at its optimum performance.

Out With The Old

We are now no longer able to supply the S451 – “Solo 1 and Solex Display Board”.
Although the PCB assembly is from an obsolete product, we have been able to supply up until now; however we are no longer able to get hold of the materials or find alternatives for it so production will cease.

FIM-Expo Success

FIM-Expo returned this Spring to Mercedes Benz World in Weybridge on the 5th and 6th of March. The event was a great success for Kentec, with a large number of visitors spanning the two days.
On display we had a sample of our Analogue and Conventional ranges including our new life safety system Taktis and Virtual Resource.

This new regional Road Show concept is set to continue around the country with the next show scheduled for October; venue to be confirmed.
